Simeon Hanes & Elizabeth Ann Sinclair
Simeon was born in Ohio around 1807 and Elizabeth was born in Virginia on 8 APR 1812. What brought Simeon to Virginia we don't know but he and Elizabeth met and fell in love and married in Frederick County, Maryland on 16 JUL 1838.
Simeon worked as a cabinetmaker and they raised their children in Fauquier County VA. In 1850 they lived in the Ashbys District which I believe is what is known now as Ashbys Gap. They moved to Upperville and Paris according to the 1870 & 1880 censuses.
They had five children: Virginia, Ella V, Mary J, Thomas Sewell, Henry Slicer.
In 1900 Elizabeth was living her son Henry and daughter Ella. She passed 17 FEB 1909 and is buried in Ivy Hill Cemetery in Fauquier County along with many other family members.
According to the 1870 Mortality Census, Simeon died of cirrhosis in June 1869. I have been unable to locate this gravesite.
