This document confirms the marriage, birth location and parents William & Virginia

William may have been in the Confederate Army as there is a William G. Morris from Clarke County in the 39th Battalion Cavalry. If this is him, it appears he deserted and then was recovered and paroled on 20 APR 1865 to Millwood, VA. In 1870, he and Virginia are living in Millwood, VA.

William worked as a merchant, farmer and laborer. By the time Virginia died in 1894 they were living in unincorporated Swan Pond, Berkeley County, West Virginia. They attended Uvilla Methodist Church. In 1893 the Southern Methodist Congregation of Uvilla decided to erect a new church - we can assume this is the church that Virginia and William attended.

They had seven children; Ella Cornelia, Mary Selone, Albert J, Annie Elizabeth, Emma Lee, Manly Thomas, Daisey Bell.

Virginia died 6 OCT 1894, six months after her daughter Emma was married. She died from Typhiod fever which was prevalent in their neighborhood of Swan Pond, WVA. Virginia was interned at Edge Hill Cemetery, Uvilla, WVA

William died 31 DEC 1915 just a month after his daughter Ella died. He was also interned in Uvilla.
